Lares trek is an alternative that cover all expectations
of any adventurer in the Andes of Peru. Along the way we
shoot to Snowy peaks, Crystal water lagoons, native or
migratory birds of high mountains, wild and domestic
animas, and Inca blood people, those who preserve up
this paradise on earth. And we should not forget its
medicinal hot springs.
1º day
We take the route to Lares Town, to ensure a good start
we`ll stop in the market of Calca to provide as with
school supplies or small objects (20 soles or 5 us$) for
children. They are always surprised to see foreigners
crossing their land. On the way there are some
archaeological remains like Ancas Marka, consisting of
circular buildings left by the culture Laris.
After a hilly course we arrive to Lares, and it’s
swimming hot springs. We can enjoy this Andean Resort.
After our first lunch, we will begin a slowly walk
toward Huaca Huasi Community, the path is really
beautiful and not beating. There are many glacier
streams; children look us always with a smile, and the
mountains stand in our vicinity. After 4 hours away,
arrive to the first camping, hot tee, dinner and rest.
2º day
Roosters are natural alarm clocks, the fresh morning
push us to eat well and keep rolling the expedition, we
ascend the mountains passing through small towns from
where surely came out little boys going to school,, of
course we look like turtles from to rabbits. The slope
is regular, carpets of potatoes and cereal plants get
your camera turn on. While from above white streams
abruptly jump taking their way; and the challenging
snowy caps greed the father sun pretending race in
light.
Walking up is not bad, look so close, and available.
Before the first Pass we have to see a crystal lagoon,
of turquoise, blue and ochre shades, each angle shows
the purity of its self. After some pictures we conquer
the pass of 4,400 metres above sea level. We don´t have
to wait more, it can be cold, is better to go down for a
warmer temperature and a hot lunch, near a larger lake,
where migratory birds gives as the sound of alert.
Every thing looks more accessible from down here. Yes we
did the highest sector. In the afternoon are 3 hours
down hill, llamas and alpacas delight us, and the
veronica snowy peak says that Machu Picchu is not far
any more.
Patacancha is a Native community, and our camp site, its
people are waiting to give us hospitality and Arts.
3º day.
Trek from Patacancha to Willoq. In both towns the people
like to wear on black and red costumes, similar to old
suits displayed in Inca museums. They are direct
descendants of Incas.
The path take as through the valley floor, but a less
beating trail fork us to Puma Marca ruins. It is a very
old fortress, of many little houses, rectangular towers
around and a high fence made of stones and mud bricks.
From here the way to Ollantaytambo is perched on the
hill, it passes by ancient terracing that get feel the
antiquity beating.
We descent to Ollantaytambo, as ever our support staff
awaits with just cooked meals.
In the afternoon remains only to wait for aur train
enter to the historical Sanctuary of Machu Picchu.
Tonight we´ll sleep in the cosy town of Aguas Calientes
with all facilities.
4º day.
The tour to Machu Picchu start very early, with the
first bus, wait for Sun Rise, looking how light clouds
clear the way to the Sun father, who salutes the lost
city of his children.
After the tour, you will have enough time to relax or
get a farther explore, and if you choose to climb the
Wayna Picchu mountain, just take much space in you
camera.
