THE SACRED
VALLEY OF THE INKAS
It is currently one of the most important tourist
attractions of Peru by its nature and ancient culture;
contains about 54 known archaeological sites.
The valley floor altitude is from 2,800 m. above sea
level by the
side of Pisaq and 2,600 m. on Ollantaytambo.
but its mountains are above 6,000 m i.e.. it just means
a large number of micro climates that sustain a great
number of native products cultivated.
This is a important valley in the country of Perú, is 35 min far
of the capital Cusco and on the way to Machu Picchu.
Along the Sacred Valley, the Urubamba river is
fed by many rivers pouring from the Andes, and running to the Amazon
River, also named Urubamba valley. Contains numerous
archaeological sides and typical towns, the valley was
appreciated by the Incas due to its especial geography
and climatic qualities, it was one of the empires main
points , for political and productive developing.
Specially producing Maize cereals and potatoes of
different varieties, most of them improved and bred into governmental
crop lab of
Moray.
Each town along the Urubamba river has a Inca or
pre-Inca remind. Through dances or celebrations, they
show that mixture of the old and new live. Quechua
language is for us the best way to share it.
Traditional markets are Tuesdays, Thursdays and
Sundays. when Andean people go to mass or to visit the majors in the
square with the most colourful dressing; while they exchange
or sell their products to supply with
sugar, batteries or coca leaves. but also to join good
friends.
